Plush Mills - Serendipity Labs

Exterior Signage and Mural Creation — Commercial | Greenville, S.C.

When the new owners of the historic Piedmont Plush Mills purchased the building they knew they had a responsibility and a desire to keep this part of Greenville's textile history alive. Not only in the architectural restoration but to use the space as an opportunity to educate people on the history of the mill and surrounding mill villages of the time.

Emanate was approached to create a photo montage that would represent not only the historical nature of the mill while capturing a sense of the products produced there but the life of the people including Shoeless Joe Jackson as a staple of the Mill Village community in that time. Having seen a view renditions of 2 concepts a second mural was commissioned for the interior to capture additional images of the original mill.

In keeping with the rough reclaimed nature of the materials used throughout the renovation, we also created several exterior signs for the new anchor tenant, Serendipity Labs, a co-work space new to the area. We use the unused original brick to fill the sign base and incorporated the rusted steel finish into the final signs.
